Millichamp: From Southampton to London – An Independent Band on the Rise

Millichamp - Sophisticated Cloud - Review

Following their first UK headline show, growing radio support and an expanding audience across the UK and Europe, Southampton indie-pop duo Millichamp are preparing for their next milestone: a February 2027 performance at London's The Old Blue Last.

When we first featured Millichamp in the Sophisticated Cloud Journal, the Southampton duo were building their reputation through a combination of original music, live performances and a refreshingly independent approach to the music industry.

A few weeks on, there is plenty more to report.

Tom Millichamp and Connor Osgood have continued to make progress, with their latest single attracting radio attention, their first UK headline show now behind them and new opportunities beginning to emerge.

For a band formed in 2025, it has been an encouraging period of development – and their journey is far from standing still.

A milestone in their hometown

On 22 October 2026, Millichamp took an important step forward with their first UK headline performance at The Joiners in Southampton.

For the duo, returning to their hometown to headline a venue with such an established place in the local music scene was an opportunity to celebrate how far they had come.

It was also a chance to bring together the people who have supported them along the way, from friends and family to listeners who have discovered their music through streaming platforms, radio and live performances.

The evening attracted attention beyond the local music community, with independent music publication Music Scene Magazine subsequently publishing a dedicated feature on the performance.

That coverage provided another welcome opportunity to introduce Millichamp to readers interested in discovering emerging British talent.

It is particularly encouraging to see independent artists attracting this kind of attention through their live work, rather than relying solely on online exposure.

Building an audience beyond the South Coast

One of the most interesting developments in Millichamp's story is the geographical reach of their growing audience.

Although Southampton remains their home, their musical journey has already taken them to various destinations across the UK and Europe.

Their appearance on Ben Ellis's Time Slows On Tour 2026 provided opportunities to perform in different cities, meet new audiences and gain valuable experience outside their familiar surroundings.

That experience is now becoming an important part of their development as a live act.

For independent musicians, establishing an audience in different locations takes time and consistency. Every performance, new listener and connection can help create opportunities further down the line.

Millichamp's growing following is evidence of the value of that continued commitment.

New music finding its way onto the airwaves

Released on 8 October 2026, their single 'This Kind Of Love' has been another important part of the band's recent progress.

The release explores friendship, loyalty and the significance of having someone in your corner during difficult moments. It is a personal subject that gives the track an emotional dimension beyond its indie-pop foundations.

The single has also helped Millichamp gain further exposure through radio.

Following support from independent broadcasters, the track received BBC Introducing airplay on BBC Radio Solent and subsequently BBC Introducing on BBC Radio Oxford.

The duo have also attracted interest from the BBC Radio 1 Introducing team, opening up another potential avenue for their music to reach new listeners.

For emerging artists, getting their work in front of radio presenters, producers and music teams is an important part of developing a wider profile.

There are no guarantees in the music industry, but each opportunity helps build awareness and creates the possibility of future connections.

From independent musicians to a growing music brand

Something that has remained consistent throughout Millichamp's journey is their determination to retain control over their creative direction.

Tom and Connor have taken responsibility for much of the work involved in developing the band, from creating music and organising performances to managing their online presence and communicating with their audience.

It is an approach that requires considerable commitment, particularly when balancing the creative demands of being musicians with the practical realities of running an independent music project.

However, building a recognisable identity beyond the music itself is increasingly important for emerging artists.

A strong digital presence gives audiences somewhere to discover new releases, find upcoming performances, follow developments and learn more about the people behind the music.

It also provides a central point of reference for journalists, promoters, venues and other industry contacts.

As Millichamp continue to develop, these elements will become increasingly valuable in supporting their ambitions.

Next stop: The Old Blue Last, London

The next exciting date in the band's diary is Thursday 25 February 2027, when Millichamp will perform at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch, London.

This event will mark another opportunity for Tom and Connor to introduce their music to a new audience and continue expanding their presence beyond Southampton.

The Old Blue Last has a long association with London's independent music scene, making it an exciting destination for artists looking to establish themselves in the capital.

For Millichamp, this upcoming performance represents another step in the direction they have been working towards since forming the duo.

Following their Southampton headline show and recent radio developments, London offers a fresh setting in which to build on that progress.

An exciting journey still unfolding

The music industry is notoriously competitive, and there is no single formula for building a successful career as an independent artist.

What matters is the ability to keep creating, performing, connecting with audiences and recognising opportunities when they arise.

Millichamp are doing exactly that.

From their early performances and European dates to their first UK headline show, growing radio exposure and forthcoming London appearance, the past few months have brought plenty of positive developments.

There is still much ahead for Tom and Connor, but they have established a foundation from which to continue developing their music and reaching new audiences.

At Sophisticated Cloud, we are delighted to be following their progress and supporting their journey through our work across digital presence and PR.

We look forward to seeing what the next chapter brings.
