Motadata Launches ObserveOps Infinity With a Smaller Hardware Footprint

The release cuts required infrastructure by an indicative 30 to 40 per cent, adds an observability pipeline to the base platform, and replaces four editions with one. 

Motadata has made ObserveOps Infinity generally available. The release reduces the hardware required to run the company's observability platform, introduces an observability pipeline in the base product, and retires Motadata's four-edition licensing structure in favour of a single edition. 

The starting point was not a feature request. Server, memory and storage pricing has climbed sharply across most markets, and observability platforms are exposed to that trend because they are compute-heavy at ingest and storage-heavy at rest. The increase lands on the customer's infrastructure line rather than the software line, and the common vendor response has been to treat it as an external condition and pass it through. Motadata took the opposite position and set the customer's hardware bill as a design constraint for its own engineering team. 

For ObserveOps Infinity, ingest paths, storage layout, rollup strategy, index structures and collector efficiency were re-worked so the platform performs the same work on fewer resources, holding device counts, retention windows and query behaviour constant. Motadata states an indicative reduction of up to 30 to 40 per cent for an equivalent deployment, and is explicit that the figure is workload-dependent, varying with device mix, polling interval, retention policy, enabled modules and topology. Deployments are sized individually against the company's sizing matrix. 

The practical effect is fewer nodes per thousand monitored devices, smaller storage provisioning for the same retention window, and lower hypervisor, power and rack cost underneath. Motadata expects the more consequential outcome to be resilience. High availability and disaster recovery for the monitoring platform are often deferred because a resilient topology doubles a footprint that was already hard to justify, and a lower per-node requirement brings that decision back into range. 

Underneath the footprint reduction sits a new observability pipeline, positioned as a control plane between every source and every store. Telemetry usually arrives unstructured and without context, and where there is no control point in between, everything is kept at full fidelity indefinitely. Cost then scales with the volume of data rather than its value, and events that arrive without context have to be correlated by an engineer during an incident. 

The pipeline addresses both before data lands. Its capabilities today include: 

  • Parsing that turns logs, events, traps and flows into structured fields at ingest 

  • Transformation that filters, normalises, redacts, masks, samples and routes data in motion 

  • Context enrichment attaching configuration item, site, owner, environment and service information at ingest 

  • Policy-driven retention that tiers data by value rather than by default 

  • Event handling that absorbs bursts and applies backpressure during a storm 

Motadata has built the pipeline as an extensible control plane rather than a fixed sequence, with new stages attaching to the same architecture as the platform develops. It is included in the base platform, with no separate SKU and no volume gate, which is also why the footprint reduction holds. Data that is reduced, tiered or never stored requires no disk. 

The release also removes the four-edition structure. Network Monitoring, Network Observability, Hybrid Infrastructure Observability and Full Stack Observability are consolidated into one edition that unlocks the complete platform on day one, covering monitoring, topology, service level objectives, dashboards, AIOps, correlation, automation, integrations and security alongside the pipeline. Metering is by monitored device, with optional add-on modules for Flow, Log, network configuration management, application performance monitoring and real user monitoring. 

Log and Flow have moved from per gigabyte per day to per source, so customers are licensed by the number of things they watch rather than by how much data those things emit. Existing customers on the previous editions are not being asked to migrate, and live deployments continue on their current contracts. 

Commenting on the release, Motadata said: "Infinity did not begin as a feature list. It began as four costs we concluded our customers should never have been asked to carry, and a commitment to engineer them out of the product rather than price them into the deal. If a decision is hard, it should be hard for us rather than priced into a customer's deal as an edition matrix." 

Motadata also positions the release as groundwork for agentic capability, with structured telemetry, governed retention, AIOps and runbook automation with approval workflow available today. Agentic capabilities are stated as releasing onto the same platform and licence, without dates attached. 

ObserveOps Infinity is generally available now.
